ABOUT HARP & AIR AUDIO

WE LOVE A GREAT
STORY WITH
A VOICE
OF ITS OWN.

A WRITER'S CURIOSITY. A PERFORMER'S IMAGINATION. A LONG-HELD IDEA, FINALLY FINDING ITS VOICE.
Welcome to Harp & Air Audio.

MEET MIKE

WRITER
PERFORMER
BUSINESS GUY

A FEW TOO MANY VOICES.

I’m Mike—a writer, teacher, business guy, nonprofit professional, and performer. Before I go any further, I don’t want to embarrass her, but yes, that picture is of me and my mother-in-law. We’ve always gotten along great! Hi, Karen!

One of the things that inspired me to start Harp & Air Audio is how much I love getting to know a character: what they want, what they’re hiding, what they’re thinking, and the lengths they’ll go to when the inevitable climax arrives and puts them to the test. That curiosity extends beyond fiction. I’m constantly digging into ideas and philosophies, questioning what makes people tick and how those ideas shape our reality and everyday lives.

It runs through my writing, which has appeared regularly in arts magazines and the occasional stuffy old philosophy journal, and through the workshop I teach. Helping a writer discover what makes a scene come alive draws on many of the same instincts as performing it: listening closely, finding the emotional stakes, and knowing when to lean into a character and when to let a moment breathe.

My love of performance took shape in high school and college, between bookstore shifts, musicals, and acting classes. There were also a few less conventional gigs, like making birthday videos for kids with a Kermit the Frog puppet and an impersonation. It was a surprisingly good lesson in how much personality a voice can carry. Kermit’s deep, y'all.

I still love that freedom to play. Impersonations, character voices, and a singing range that stretches from bass into the occasional soprano give me plenty of room to explore. But what draws me in is the person behind the sound—the menace beneath a polite remark, the ridiculous sidekick with an unexpectedly tender heart, the character who feels so real you can’t help but connect and keep listening.

A LONG TIME IN THE MAKING

I've wanted to build this for years.
I finally decided it was time to give it
a voice.

For far too long, this idea lived in the shadows of other responsibilities. The enthusiasm never left, but bills, family, and the ever-present voices saying, “That’s not a real job” kept it an idea in my mind. Now I’m making room for it—and putting that enthusiasm to work.

Harp & Air is a young studio with a long road ahead. Authors who join us early will be part of a formative chapter as we develop our sound, grow our capabilities, and build a catalog together. That said, I’m investing time and money into the studio, training, software, and way more acoustic foam panels than I ever could have fathomed. Point being: I’m putting everything I can into this, and I’m a perfectionist. If you come on board with us, I'll work to ensure you are as proud of the finished audiobook as you are of the story that inspired it.

I’m excited to build this and I'm looking forward to meeting a lot of amazing, talented people along the way.

IMAGINATION
AND THE WORK TO SUPPORT IT.

WHERE CREATIVITY MEETS FOLLOW-THROUGH

Alongside my creative work, I’ve built a career helping ambitious ideas become reality. I’ve raised tens of millions of dollars for nonprofits and overseen hundreds of millions of dollars in the technology sector as a Chief Program and Financial Management Officer.

Across nonprofit development, education, and technology, the work has called for both vision and follow-through: building relationships, managing resources, and helping people move toward a shared goal.

I bring that same care here. A creative partnership needs attention to the story and to the practical details: thoughtful planning, clear expectations, honest communication, and respect for everyone’s work.

As a writer myself, I know how much of you can live in a manuscript. I want authors to feel that their work is being met with curiosity, care, and a real willingness to understand it.

A LITTLE AIR IN THE STORY

MY GREATEST ROLE

I'm certainly not a movie star,
but acting provided me
something much more valuable
than fame and fortune.

I met my wife, Erica, in an
acting class.

I call her "Air"—short for Erica—
so that's where half of Harp &
Air came from. The other half
is inspired by my amazing, beautiful, and unbelievably imaginative daughter, Harper.

A little of our own story, tucked into a company built around imagination and the connections great stories make possible. Fitting, right?

THE HOME WE'RE BUILDING

ROOM FOR
DIFFERENT WORLDS.

Our curiosity crosses genres. We’re drawn to distinctive characters, a strong point of view, and stories that stay with you. We’re building an independent home where authors can feel heard and creative possibilities have room to grow.

You created the world. Understanding what matters to you is where our work begins—from the atmosphere you imagined to the small details you’d hate to see lost. We want to hear what you hear in your story and build a performance that honors it.

We love exploring what makes a voice distinctive—and what it reveals about the person behind it. Sometimes it’s an accent or a rhythm; sometimes it’s the hesitation before an answer. Those choices help us discover the humor, contradictions, and heart that make your characters feel alive.

Creative freedom works best with honest conversations and clear expectations. We make room for ideas, questions, and differing perspectives, while talking openly about the practical details of working together. You should feel comfortable speaking up and confident that we’re listening.

CREATED A WORLD THAT NEEDS TO BE HEARD?

We'd love to bring it to life... together.

Dynamic voices. Extraordinary stories. Because stories deserve to be HEARD.
